Born in Paris in 1946
Lives and works in Paris
Dorothee Selz creates edible sculptures. They are truly edible visual creations. She has worked with Daniel Spoerri and remains linked to the experimental spirit of the Eat Art movement that he created. She does sculptures according to the architectural context (museum, gallery or any other place), and the number of guests. Her edible sculptures are imagined to bring together visual concept, taste and humor. The work comes to life in a festive way thanks to the active participation of the public, “tasting what it sees”. The idea is that ephemeral art lives on in “the memory”.
In addition to her sculptures, Dorothee Selz paints using popular images as her starting point. The idea is to bring new life to those common images. By very graphic and dynamic painting, she draws attention to the humor, or the absurdity of this poetic imagery bound to be forgotten.
Since the 1970’s, Dorothee Selz has exhibited in France and abroad regularly.
